The article that I have linked, deeply saddens me as well as deeply enrages my soul. I am mixed on whether to mourn or cry out for justice from God. Mariem Yahya Ibrahim was condemned for her Christian faith and sentenced to death by hanging but not before being tortured by 100 lashes.
It severely pains me to see this happen in our world today, but persecution of God’s Church (Christians from every nation, of every era) will continue to happen until the Lord returns (1).
At first I was angry, demanding justice, but the Lord reminded me of His Truth: That there be repentance of sin (2), and mercy for the sinner (3). I encourage everyone who reads this to pray this simple prayer with me:
Dear Lord, my heart cries out you and my soul demands justice, but You, O LORD, have shown me Your Truth. I instead pray that the judge repents and turns to You, God, or at least that You work in his heart for him to have compassion. I know that in whatever may happen, you Lord are still sovereign [in control]. If that man does not repent or have a change of heart, I know that Mariem is in Your care and that she boldly finished the race set before her. Amen.
